What to pair Buttercream Frosting with?
We paired this icing with our Coconut Cake and it topped the cake off just perfectly. The good thing about buttercream is that it basically pairs with just about anything that needs frosting. And, it’s super simple to make with just a few key ingredients that you probably already have on hand in your pantry. This is a staple that must be in your go-to baking arsenal.

Ingredients
- 2 oz cream cheese , let it soften to room temperature
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter – microwave for about 15–30 seconds to soften butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 5 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Use an electric mixture, with the paddle attachment, to whip butter with cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.
- Slowly mix in the vanilla extract. Continue whipping on medium speed adding in the powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- If the texture seems a bit runny, you can chill as needed to help it thicken up.
