Everyone has those people that are “so hard to buy for” and for that I love the food gift. A delicious, homemade treat that is beautifully packaged is always the way to the heart.
This season one of my favorite food gifts is Sea Salt Caramel sauce. It is so easy to make and filled with rich flavor. I packaged mine in these cute little vintage jars with simple white butcher string and they made the cutest little gifts paired with a vintage spoon.
Sea Salt Caramel Sauce
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbs water
- 2 tbs unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp vanila extract
How to cook Sea Salt Caramel Sauce
- Begin by mixing the sugar and water together over medium heat in a small saucepan and bring mixture to a boil. Once the sugar is dissolved, reduce heat to a simmer.
- Next, add in butter and whisk until combined. Let mixture simmer for about five minutes until it turns a deep brown color. Remove pan from heat and gently whisk in the cream. Whisk cream until it is completely combined and add in salt and vanilla, whisking both in.
- Carefully pour sauce into a heat-proof jar. Let cool before serving.
Let me know in the comments what some of your favorite homemade gifts are, I’d love to see what you’re making! #HEIRLOOMED
