Heirloomed Weekly : Like the Good Old Days

A weekly round up of some of my favorite things, happenings, trends + more, from heirloomed founder + lifestyle designer, Ashley Schoenith.

The past two weeks, while things have been crazy, scary and uncertain, they have also been more like the good old days that our parents and grandparents so fondly remember. Like my own childhood, we’ve reconnected again like a family in a way that I think will never go back. We’ve been outside on family walks, falling off bikes with scraped knees, learning to tie shoes, laughing together, eating home cooked meals around the dinner table every night and forced to play with our siblings instead of fighting with them. While the shop orders have been at stand still, I’m optimistic about the future and I’m savoring every moment of this slower paced life we’ve been thrust into.

Food

I know you’re cooking, baking and enjoying family supper together now probably more than ever, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite made-from-scratch recipes if you’re running out of anything but still have basic pantry staples. Here’s a few of my favorites you may enjoy – artisan breadhomemade butterbuttermilk biscuits.  Lots of recipes over on the site.

And if you’re looking for a few online places to order food, grocery staples or meal kits from, here are a few I’d suggest you check out : Thrive Market, Vital Choice Wild Seafood & Organics, Blue Apron and ButcherBox.

Family

We’ve spent a lot of time in the kitchen together cooking and baking over past two weeks so I thought I’d include a round up of some of my favorite goods for kids in the kitchen, like these great kid-friendly knives , this great standing stool tower so your little one can safely reach the counter or sink, these super cute Cookie Cutters and of course our children’s aprons are essential.

Home

I’ve been super excited to share a new home project we will be kicking off next week, but for now, I thought I’d share a few of my room-by-room tours from our home in case you haven’t checked them out before. I definitely have a simple farmhouse aesthetic with a heavy dose of vintage pieces mixed in. A few of my favorites (and most frequented) rooms are our KitchenLaundry Room and Back Screened Porch. So much home coming your way, I’d love to know what your personal design style is.

And, I put together a round up of some of my favorite Vintage Sinks + Faucets – one of the most asked-about design elements of our home. So many great options out there!

Vintage

One vintage trend I’ve been seeing a lot lately are the use of old vintage glass jars in pantry organization (I’ve been pinning a lot of them lately – like these few). They’re becoming harder and harder to find these days but whenever I see the old metal clamp jars I snatch them up and put them up in our Vintage Goods shop. I love mixing in these old, well made pieces for pretty storage solutions in your pantry – it adds so much character while still being super functional too.

Style

If you ever needed a capsule wardrobe with basics to mix and match and take you from homeschooling to Zoom meeting to outdoor activities and beyond, now’s the time. Here’s a round up of some of my favorite Capsule Wardrobe pieces (many that are on sale right now) this week.
