Recipe for Alabama White Sauce
One of my favorite meals is a good old fashioned Southern barbecue. I love the smell of smoking pulled pork in the Big Green Egg or a rack of ribs on the grill. It’s such a nostalgic meal filled with so many family memories. It’s also one of those recipes I think this interestingly tied to certain regions specifically, and BBQ in general has a funny niche that way.
Today, I wanted to share my recipe for one of my favorite part of the BBQ, Alabama White Sauce.
Alabama White Sauce is a must have at a BBQ in my opinion. It goes so great on the plate with barbecue as well. It is really so easy to make, and even tastier if you try it with homemade mayo.
This recipe for Alabama White Sauce has just the right amount of tang and flavor for pulled pork, chicken or ribs.
- 2 cups mayo
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- 3 Tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 to 2 teaspoons horseradish
- salt and pepper to taste
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
- Cover and chill before serving.
- You can modify the recipe a bit if needed. For example, add additional apple cider vinegar for a thinner sauce with a bit more bite, or add more cayenne pepper for added spice.
I hope this Alabama White Sauce makes an appearance at your next BBQ along side a more traditional homemade BBQ Sauce too, and I’d love to know your thoughts on it. let me know in the comments below!
