Grandmother’s Classic Chocolate Cake.

I grew up so close to food – from family dinners and Sunday suppers, to making all things homemade with my grandmother, it’s no secret that these made-from-scratch moments have shaped who I am. I’ve teamed up with one of my go-to favorite brands, KitchenAid to celebrate our roots in the kitchen and show my #markofmaking.

For me, my inspiration is drawn from very notable marks – splattered recipe cards, stained from ingredients of well-loved recipes that my family members have made over and over again. I just love using old recipes that have been passed down from my great grandmother and grandmothers collections on to me and showing my own children the importance of these traditions.

I treasure every recipe card in my collection, down to each and every splatter they hold from use. Today I chose to make my Grandmother’s Classic Chocolate Cake, an all-time family favorite. I used my KitchenAid Stand Mixer, a product like no other, to bring this recipe to life. And, as you’ll notice if you’ve followed along here for any amount of time, I use it again and again and again in my own home.

  2. Begin adding sugar to the mixture. Next, add flour and dry ingredients alternately with sour milk.
  3. Lastly add whites of eggs, beaten stiffly. Bake in moderate oven for 35-40 minutes.
