I love the smell of apple cider cooking on my stovetop. The aroma of the sweet apples, crisp cinnamon, and spice of fall are my favorite during the cold months.

Stovetop Apple Cider

If you know me you know I love warm weather, BUT one of the best things about a chill in their air is getting to enjoy some of the most classic Fall favorites. I love spending time time with my family cozied up by the fireplace enjoying a treat and this is one we always break out on Halloween and sip all season long – Apple Cider.

Today I am going to share my favorite apple cider recipe. This is the perfect quick and easy recipe to get the kids in the kitchen to help with, and even if you don’t love drinking it I promise you’ll want to put a pot on just to make your house smell amazing for Fall. This is also an easy recipe to move to the crockpot too, especially green when you’re entertaining because it stays nice and warm for your guests.

Description

This delicious and fragrant apple cider will be something you sip on all season.

Ingredients

Scale

2 quarts apple juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 apple (cut in half + with peeling)
1 small orange (cut in 1/4 inch slice + with peeling)
2 tsp whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice

Instructions

Begin by inserting the whole cloves into all sides of the apple. Using a dutch oven or saucepan, begin heating the apple juice over medium heat. When it becomes heated begin to stir in the brown sugar until it dissolves. Add in the remaining ingredients and let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove the apple, orange and any other whole ingredients. Serve hot in your favorite mug, and enjoy.
