Introducing the Studio Apron.

A blank canvas is a symbol of opportunity, growth, creativity and what is to come. We wanted our Studio Apron to be a symbol of the same – a garment that inspires the artist and often becomes a work of art in itself.

When designing this piece, we wanted to be sure that it was suited to the actual needs of real artists everywhere. So, we teamed up with several amazingly talented artists in our community and asked for their help perfecting it. Kiki Slaughter, Britt Bass, Maggie Mathews and Sally King Benedict shared their feedback and their creative story with us, helping us make decisions about everything from pockets to length. We couldn’t be more excited to share the details with you.

The Studio Apron is made of mid-weight cotton canvas – it’s sturdier than most apron fabrics to provide durability, but is still flexible to provide the wearer with a full range of motion – something that is oh-so-important in the studio world for creatives. As a subtle design detail, the pockets feature a series of diagonal stitches so as to resemble a gallery wrapped canvas, giving further nod to the blank canvas inspiration.

Based on artist recommendation, the pockets are also deep to hold brushes or to make sure your phone doesn’t get covered in paint. All points of functionality were explored in the design process, with pockets being a feature our customers always covet even in the kitchen. The apron itself is made to be covered in paint, though much unlike the kitchen our artists told us that they probably wouldn’t wash a studio apron, so we ensured that we made it as durable and ready-to-get-messy as possible.

Our Studio Apron is well-made and well-loved, crafted with both the amateur and professional artist in mind. It’s made to inspire, to be worn often, to be painted on, and – one day – to be passed along to the next generation artist in your family.

As part of this special series, we will be bringing you a feature on each of the four artists we collaborated with to bring this Studio Apron to life. Each was also kind enough to tackle a creative project for us as part of this collaboration and the result was this collection of”Apron Art”  individually hand-painted and signed by each artist in their own creative style. These mix-medium works of art would make a beautiful and unique addition to any gallery wall or art collection so be sure to pop over and shop the full collection before these one-of-a-kind art aprons are gone.
