You know how much I love antiques and vintage items. They make amazing decor and accent pieces, especially around the holidays. Here, I’m sharing a few of my ideas for how to set up your dining room an the rest of your home with unique, vintage holiday decor.
First, you can use a vintage sled as a one-of-a-kind centerpiece for your holiday buffet or spread. It’s festive, seasonal and a conversation starter.
Another favorite is arranging vintage ornaments in glass vase to make a colorful piece great for your mantle, the center of your table, or your kitchen island. This one is so easy to pull together and looks beautiful!
Vintage Christmas Books are so great for the coffee table or bookshelf vignette during holiday time. I also use vintage kids Christmas storybooks for display on the nightstands in the little ones’ bedrooms.
An especially unique decor option, I inherited some beautiful crystal pieces from my great grandmother’s old chandelier that had since broken. I absolutely love them and hang them on the tips of my Christmas tree branches each year. They sparkle and shine and add that extra layer of tradition from generations of use.
The best part of decorating with vintage items can often be the unexpected find. There is always that one item that you just wait and wait for on your treasure hunts… for me it was this Santa suit from the 1920’s. I left the store without it and for some reason just couldn’t stop thinking about it. My dad went back and bought it for me two weeks later and it hangs on my wall each holiday season now as one of my prized treasures. Showcasing these special finds is usually easy because they’re so unique they shine and stand out all on their own. Love to see yours!
