This classic cornbread recipe is one that my family has used for ages. It pairs beautifully with other classic, southern sides and looks fantastic in an antique cast iron form.
Classic Cornbread
When I think of cornbread, I think of the many variations my step dad would make for us when I was growing up. Some were sweet, some were spicy, some more mealy, others with chunks of corn kernels. Cornbread was my favorite compliment to go with the southern meals he would make on Sundays, and I always preferred the classic taste with fresh corn mixed in.
Maybe it’s a southern thing, but I feel like every family has their own take on corn bread. At family or friend get-togethers, cookouts, or dinner celebrations, I have tried so many different types of cornbread. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any variation in my eyes!
