The Palmetto Cocktail

As part of our Cocktail Recipe Series, enjoy this refreshing “Old Florida” take on the Texas Ranch Water.  The upgrade from lime to key lime makes all the difference in this simple summer tequila cocktail.

For the launch of our new Heirloomed x BECASA Palmetto Collection, we wanted to celebrate by having a specialty cocktail we could serve for our launch event. That’s where the concept for this flavorful summer cocktail came to be.

I’m a big fan of the Texas Ranch Water, a bubbly tequila drink that is simple to make as a single serving or in batches, not loaded down with sugar & calories, refreshing and filled with flavor. My Florida roots took over for this updated version by making a simple substitution.

I have to give credit where credit is due and that goes to my very best childhood friend Jen and equally as wonderful husband Greg. Fittingly, we visit them often at their beach house in Saint George in the Florida panhandle, the beach we grew up going to. During one trip last year, we had tequila with a squirt of key lime juice and it became our drink of choice for the duration of the trip. So, when concocting this one, I just kept going with the flavors.

PRO TIP : The best key lime juice around is the original Nellie & Joe’s, straight from Key West.  It’s just as good as freshly squeezed.

The Palmetto Cocktail

Single Serving, 1 cocktail 

• 1-2 shots of tequila blanco
• Crushed ice to fill your cup
• 2 squirts (or half a shot) of fresh key lime juice
• Topo Chico, or other sparkling water, to fill the remainder of the glass
• 1 key lime wedge for garnish
