Camp-Inspired 2nd Birthday Party.

Camp Party Chalkboard Sign
Last weekend we held Wyatt’s 2nd birthday party – where has the time gone!? We have always had a fondness for camping and the outdoors, and Wyatt shares the same passions. And, his “big boy” toddler room {which is nearly complete .. stay tuned!} has a camp-inspired theme, too so it was the perfect fit.

Camp Party Invitation Smores Cake

I instantly found inspiration in this sweet Minted birthday invitation and got so many comments from the guests on the cute theme. We pitched a big tent in the backyard for the kids to play under, and outfitted with a few simple swags of burlap and a hand-stitched red cross flag it made the perfect backdrop for the party. The flag made it’s way into Wyatt’s new room, too.

I’m by no means a food blogger, but I must say this s’mores cake might have been my very best baked good to date. I just may post the recipe if there is some interest because I’m dying to make it again {already!} I’m a sucker for a good graham cracker crust.

I also made a kid-friendly s’mores cake and pitched three little graham cracker tents on top, which was simple to cut and share with the kiddos.  And, just when you start to feel a little crafty, I have my talented mom to thank for Wyatt’s cute hand-painted “Camp Wyatt” thermal shirt, tent flag sign and chalkboard sign! And, I had to get these classic kids Hunter Boots as the perfect birthday present, though he hobbled around in one most of the day!

Toddler Camp Party

Everyone had fun playing and roasting s’mores in the firepit. This s’mores station was pretty much completely gone by the end of the afternoon and the perfect Fall day added a crisp little note to the fun.
