On the 2nd day of Christmas Cookies I’m bringing these sweet little Half + Half Slices. These are perfect because you can truly utilize your dough to get two contrasting flavors, and when you make them small like these they are just the perfect little bite-sized treat when you need your Christmas Cookie fix.

Half + Half Slices

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 oz unsweetened chocolate
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla thoroughly. Stir flour, baking powder and salt together in a separate bowl. Blend with shortening mixture once completely mixed. Divide dough in half. Blend 2 ounces of unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled, into one half of the dough. Shape both types of dough into a 2 1/2 inch roll and chill both for several hours.
- Once chilled, cut each roll in half lengthwise, and press cut surfaces of contrasting halves together. Chill again until firm. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Slice into about 1/8 inch slices and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Enjoy!
