Description
The best homemade cranberry sauce made with fresh cranberries, orange and a splash of bourbon. An easy cranberry sauce recipe for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh, whole cranberries
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- Juice of 1 whole navel orange
- Orange zest, for garnish
Instructions
Add the fresh cranberries, granulated sugar and juice from one navel orange to a medium saucepan. Stir to combine.
Bring the cranberry mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries begin to burst and the sauce has started to thicken.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the bourbon.
Allow the cranberry sauce to cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools. Finish with fresh orange zest before serving.
