Not to be dramatic, but homemade almond milk changed my life. It is my favorite thing to get in my lattes and a fun alternative to classic white milk. Today I am trying my hand at making my own almond milk at home.
How to: Make Homemade Almond Milk
From the moment I first had fresh almond milk in a latte instead of the pre-made kind from the carton I was hooked.
The nutty flavor and richness comes through so much more than the off-the-shelf version, much liked you’d imagine from anything homemade. This easy peasy recipe is super simple and much like whipped cream or butter, way worth the effort of doing it from scratch.

Description
Homemade almond milk is a complete game changer. I love being able to make it so easily at home with this recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of raw whole almonds
- 1 cup boiling water
- 3 cups cold water
Instructions
- In a hi-speed blender, combine 1 cup of raw almonds and 1 cup boiling hot water. Let stand to soak for 30 minutes.
- Add 3 cups water and blend on medium to high speed until your mixture is nice and frothy. Next, strain your mixture through a fine grain cheese cloth into a bowl, squeezing and pressing the nut solids to get out as much of the milk as you can. You can discard the almond solids, or check Pinterest for a variety of recipes out there for things you can make from it.
- I love to store my milk in a glass canning jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
