If you know anything about me by now, you know that I love old things. I am a collector, curator and all around preserver of anything with a storied past, whether that be an item, a concept, a building or a craft. This week I thought it was important to celebrate all of you collectors out there – I’d simply love to know what you enjoy collecting, too.
HOME
Having a “collected” home is important to me because it allows me to display my family heirlooms, curate pieces over the years and have a story to tell about most pieces used for decor. Seeing other peoples collections and how they display them is always so interesting to me. I get a ton of inspiration from the Instagram account of obvious collector, Canadian-based Jesse Lauzon. An account to follow, for sure.
FAMILY
I learned the art of collecting when traveling during the summer with my family from Florida to North Carolina where we would vacation, stopping at every old, interesting antique store along the way. After being dragged from one shop to another, I finally began a collection of my very own – thimbles (read more of my story here) Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I’d enjoy it as an adult, or choose to do it for a living. But now, years later with a family of my very own, I drag my 3 kids (+ husband) along with me on my thrifting adventures too. And, they’ve begun to get the bug as well which makes me smile.
VINTAGE
I’m thrilled for our 2nd episode of our new IGTV series, Old Soul and this week it’s all about collecting, buying + displaying vintage art. Pop over and take a few minutes to watch, hopefully you’ll learn a thing or two (or at least see some pretty art!) as I share my tips for sourcing art of your very own.

TRAVEL
If you’re itching to take advantage of this Fall weather and enjoy a little relaxation in the country, do I have an event for you! I am just thrilled to team with with my friend at a Barnsley Resort for a fun weekend getaway that includes an HEIRLOOMED trunk show (with our big, vintage trunks), as well as a pie crust cooking workshop with my friend, author + founder Amanda Wilbanks from Southern Baked Pie. Barnsley has gorgeous, historic ruins and a beautiful love story to go along with them, too.
