Heirloomed Blog Launch + $500 Giveaway

It’s funny timing with all that is going on in the world, but it’s been on my plate as a change I wanted to make to take our business to the next level. We started this project back at the very beginning of the year (yes, website projects are a labor of love) so I am thankful we had the entire quarantine to regroup and really focus on the launch of our new website + blog as one big, productive project.

We wanted to move to WordPress, the premier blogging platform so that we could fully maximize what our blog can do for you. For the same reason, we moved our shop to the best e-commerce platform (Shopify) for our shop website and it has already been the best business move we’ve made in awhile.

Our blog has so many great stories, but had no easy way to navigate through them or discover new ones. Now we have a wonderful Recipe Index that is easy to sort + search through, with categories like Appetizers, Cocktails, Breakfast, or Desserts – and even seasonally like Summer Recipes. This new structure also allowed us to really go beyond the Kitchen (which has been a major brand / product initiative for the year) and showcase our other lifestyle categories like Home, Family, Style, Travel and DIY. We also improved our search functionality to make it super easy to find recipes with a key ingredient.

My main goal with the new design was to use our simple branding and showcase the 14-years worth of gorgeous photography we have thanks to our long-time friend + photographer Heidi Harris. I wanted this photography to truly be the main visual element of our site and our wonderful web team at Current Commerce accomplished this for us perfectly.

We are in the process of adding other more robust tools as well continue the rollout, like the layout + functionality of our Recipe Cards and making it easy to Pin images to Pinterest that are full of descriptive information so you will remember what you pinned when you look back for reference. We wanted to truly separate our blog content, storytelling and recipes from our own shop and products. I love to curate, so being able to still have a strong connection between stories and our own brand is important to me, but having it separate also allows us to share more of what we love elsewhere here on the blog.
