A roundup of some of my favorite Capsule Wardrobe staples, the Classic Stripe is a simple pattern that is both timeless, clean and on trend despite the season.
Whether you’re looking for a striped dress, striped tee or striped accessories, this timeless pattern is perfect in any color or combination.
I prefer my stripes in a range of naturals, with black and white stripe being at the top of my list. If you’re looking for a truly classic stripe, go for a combination that showcases the stripes in a uniform pattern of the same width. Here I opted for a chocolate brown and white in a simple poplin cotton fabric. The simple silhouette and long, maxi length of this dress makes gives the stripe full room to shine.
You can go vertical or horizontal, or even mix up the orientation of your stripe. When going more bold like this look, I tend to let the stripe be the hero of my style for the day. When the stripe is more subtle, you can go with more color or a stronger statement accessory to blend your whole outfit together.
A classic stripe matching set outfit is one of my favorite looks for summer, especially in a muted stripe tone like oatmeal and white or pale blue or green and white. I included a few looks in my roundup above.
