Spring has nearly sprung and these are some of my must-haves for setting the perfect Spring table this year. I’d love to know what you need for Spring … what would you add to the table?
wooden egg from west elm / heirloomed linen napkins from icemilk aprons / egg crate from anthropologie / organic sea salt from st. helena olive oil co. / bubble drinking glass from canvas / my favorite riondo prosecco / egg cup from match pewter / egg platter from martha stewart for macy’s / big picture farm goal milk chai caramels from eat boutique / honey dipper from brook farm general store / wax resist easter egg party invitation from minted / wheatgrass seeds from terrain / french urn pedestal dining table from restoration hardware.
With daylight savings time underway and the sun shining just a little bit longer, I figure it’s close enough to spring to go ahead and start the celebration with a little giveaway – don’t you think?
My favorite time of year is coming near, when the weather gets warmer (and by warmer, I mean hot here in the South) and when people come out of the woodwork to have fun and gather together for no reason at all. Spring weddings come to life, and long weekends to the lake & beach are more frequent than not. Fresh fruits & veggies are plentiful, and the grill is always on call to be fired up.

I am so proud of the new heirloomed collection linens and think they are just perfect for Spring entertaining. I worked hard to keep them simple, yet still distinctive and to keep a balanced juxtaposition of a luxurious linen paired with the rustic, simple kraft pastry packaging. And, I am so thrilled to share that I’ve just added (just now!) the option to have the table runner embroidered if you so wish. You may either have a single letter monogram for the center of the runner, or an “established” date on the detail tag on one end to commemorate a special date. I love the personal touch, and hope you will too.
And now … onto the Spring Giveaway! Hope you’ll join in for a chance to win the heirloomed table linens gift package – a set of four napkins and table runner.

If you know me well {or .. not so well} you know that jars are simply one of my favorite things! When I was little, I loved playing in my grandmother’s pantry because she kept nothing in it’s original packaging but instead transferred everything to be stored into various sized glass jars, which were labeled and reminded me of a candy store – it was beautiful. And today, I do the same with many of my baking ingredients. And, of course I package my own IceMilk Aprons in their very own jars as well as a nod to this special fondness I have.
Funny story. So, I get preserves jars by the truckload from a small town grocery store or from our local hardware store to hand pack each of my aprons. My husband is kind enough to go there and load them up in his pickup truck and bring them home for me. The folks at the store are certain we are moonshiners. It makes me laugh every time, though I have kind of gotten into the Moonshiners show {anyone else?} …

Canning and preserving is on the list as one of the top 10 trends of 2013 and is oh-so-chic! With farming and farmers markets being so popular these days, I’m not surprised! Williams-Sonoma has a special section on their agrarian site just for Canning & Preserving. Mason jars are being used on everything from weddings to packaging to entertaining. Blackberry Farm has a preservationist on staff. So, whether you love Ball, Mason, Kerr, Weck or other jars, take your pick and jump right into this fun, southern-inspired craft. Some of my favorite things come in jars and I included them above for you to enjoy, but I’d love to know what else you have that I haven’t yet discovered! I hope you’ll join in our #southernchat this week to talk about all things jars, preserving, canning & more!

It is no secret … I love the south. A quintessential Southern moment is surely that of a front porch filled with rocking chairs, friends & family telling stories, chit chatting away. So, I invite you join us on the Twitter “front porch” for our new #SouthernChat series each Monday at 9:00pm est.

Each week we will have a new guest join us for the chat – from southern craft artisans, companies & brands, bloggers, musicians, chefs and more! We will spend the hour-long chat getting to know our guest, meeting new friends and greeting old friends, and chatting thru a few questions that we’ve compiled in advance of the chat. Most weeks, our chat will include a chance to win a southern-inspired giveaway {special thanks to some of our southern sponsors, partners & guests}.
Joining the chat is easy, simply tweet with us each Monday evening using the hashtag #SouthernChat. Perfect for southern sites, brands, bloggers, for southerners or just those that love and appreciate the south! You can always visit us at heirloomed to see who the latest guest will be, to check out the questions for the week & all the details – and follow along with us on Facebook (heirloomed) and Twitter (@heirloomed) and by using the hashtag #SouthernChat.
For the first installment of #SouthernChat, we will have no guest and just get right down to finding our southern friends online, kicking off the chat and talking about all things southern for the new year! You can join in the conversation with these questions …

I just launched my brand new line, heirloomed. and went in search of other “heirloom” quality items that make fabulous finds for the holidays for those who appreciate the finer things in life that are lasting. These are a few of my favorites!

Today is a special day for me, as it is every year – the celebration of my Grandmother’s birthday.
My grandmother, Cele, was born in 1912 and would have turned 100 years old today. She led such an interesting life and was the matriarch of our family without doubt. She loved to entertain, bake, host and could sew up a storm like you wouldn’t believe. She was the original entrepreneur of our family, having a host of professions – from working in a dental lab to having her own luxury line of ties. Though she has been gone for several years now, her memory lives on today through our family, and also through IceMilk Aprons. She was the inspiration for the company and collection as it is today, and the business wouldn’t exist today without her help, love and support.
And so today is a day for celebration! I proudly carry on the tradition that was started back in 2008 – our One-Day Sale at IceMilk Aprons! Simply enter “HAPPY100” in the promo code during checkout at www.icemilkaprons.com at any point today (11/12/12) to take 20% off your entire order.
I do hope you will join in the celebration, and get a head start on your holiday shopping!
Garden & Gun is hands down one of my favorite magazines. It’s a diverse and beautiful magazine that truly captures the essence of the south. This month they launched a new Southern foodie subscription program called Sideboard and I’m thrilled to announce that we’re partnering with Garden & Gun on this new tradition!
Sideboard is Garden & Gun’s way of sharing the good eats they feature in each issue with you all year long. Sideboard features a handpicked selection of Southern staples sent every 6-8 weeks for a total of eight seasonal packages throughout the year.
Included in the welcome package sent to each new Sideboard member is an IceMilk Apron, exclusively for Garden & Gun. Our limited edition apron is from our new heirloomed collection and includes an embroidered G&G signature detail. In addition, the package includes a set of Southern Expression kitchen towels, and an assortment of some favorite recipes from the magazine.
The aprons reflect part of my own personal aesthetic that the magazine speaks to as well, a little bit of outdoors and a focus on fine detail. And, being such a long-time fan of the magazines I am so honored to be a part of this new southern tradition.

There are few things in this world that are better than southern food and I can’t wait to keep you all updated on Sideboard as it continues to evolve! For more information on this exciting program, be sure to check out their site for more info.

Did you know that September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month? Most people “go pink” each October to support Breast Cancer Awareness, a wonderful cause, but I find that few people know much about “going gold” in September.

Less than 2% of federal funding supports cancers affecting children – this is a staggering statistic. And, more so than past years since having my own little kiddo last November, it truly puts things into even greater perspective than before. Wyatt has been sick with a cold or had a fever in the last 9-months, and as a parent you do feel that all you want to do is make them feel better. I truly can’t even imagine how helpless a feeling it must be for your own child to have cancer. We must help to find a cure so others don’t have to experience this terrible disease.
I’d like to take a minute to help spread awareness for the kids this month to support one of my favorite non-profit organizations, CURE Childhood Cancer. The team at CURE is simply amazing and passionate as can be, and I have had the pleasure of working with them over the last six years. Take a minute today to click over to their site and read the stories of their CURE Kids, each affected by childhood cancer. Read their stories, donate to a child, or donate to CURE.
Another way you can help this month is by making a purchase at IceMilk Aprons. Enter CUREChildhoodCancer as the promo code at checkout and we will donate 25% of the proceeds to CURE Childhood Cancer. Another way to help is by helping to tweet awareness, such as “I’m spreading awareness for @CUREChildCancer during #ChildhoodCancer Awareness Month http://bit.ly/1iDIm8 ” or do a post on your own blog to support childhood cancer awareness.
Cheers to spreading awareness this month for the kids!
I would love to share with you a new apron story from the IceMilk Aprons children’s collection – Sugar Cone Scoops.
Each of the aprons in the children’s collection was named after a fond childhood memory of my own recollection. Ice cream has long been a summer {ok, year-round …} favorite of mine; one of my favorite treats of all time. And, what better time of year than summer to share the special memories behind this little apron.
Growing up in Florida, we certainly had our share of hot, steamy summer days {and nights for that matter!} but there is nothing I love more than the heat of summer. I think it must be in your bones from birth to truly enjoy it, and I do. We had an old-fashioned ice cream churn and my sister and I would enjoy mixing the recipe and taking turns pouring the rock salt. I remember making strawberry and vanilla, but vanilla has always been my favorite flavor, so the apron namesake celebrated this simple flavor.
Most afternoons we would have a 20-minute thunderstorm sometime between 3:00-4:00pm so you had to be sure to time your treat right. I most loved making it early afternoon, giving it time to freeze and then enjoying it while the quick thunderstorms rained down. These special memories also inspired my Vanilla Churned-Sundays apron, as you may recall.
I’d love to know – what is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Inspired by my love for summer whites, I think it’s time for a little IceMilk Aprons giveaway {don’t you think?}

I feel that my obsession to pin, pin, pin as of late has taken away some time from my other lovely friends on Facebook and Twitter so I have decided to give a little love back that way. And, if you must know, summer is my all-time favorite season {90-degree weather and all}.
It’s a simple little giveaway for one of my very favorite aprons – the Frosty Tin Marshmallows – inspired by my Grandmother’s tasty little frozen mint salad treats.
Summer always brings something to celebrate – good times with family & friends at the lake or beach, and weddings too! Lots of home-cooking with all those fresh summer fruits & veggies, too. And, I hope an heirloom apron only adds to your entertaining fun!
Hope you’ll partake for a chance to win!
