As I always say, the best thing about Twitter is the people I have met online since I first started tweeting ages ago. And, Alyssa Shelasky of Apron Anxiety is no exception. I was beyond excited when she emailed me about her new book that comes out tomorrow and just knew it would be a great collaboration for us both!
If you haven’t popped over to her blog yet, do so without hesitation. Of course we have the obvious “apron” connection, but I instantly fell in love with her blog. She has a frankness that you don’t see much here in the South, and her personality shines through with every word. But, what I love most is the romantic feel it has. The imagery and her selections have a high fashion meets editorial feel with a throwback nod and I love the look.
I’m just thrilled for Alyssa and her new book of the same name – Apron Anxiety: My Messy Affairs In and Out of the Kitchen. Today, I have a very special giveaway of the book, and tomorrow stay tuned as she joins us for the Heirloom Recipe Series too. I can’t get enough of the splattered recipe card she shares, you won’t want to miss out.

Before I got my KitchenAid stand mixer, every baking experiment was a messy affair. I’d have flour and batter all over me.

My messiest moment was using my stand mixer to make cookies while my 2-year-old used her wooden ‘mixer’. She had so much putting flour, sugar and eggs together that I couldn’t see the floor! Messiest baking project ever, but well worth it!

Wow – I dream about these aprons! I have recently decided to teach people with heart disease to incorporate better foods in their diets. To make little lifestyle changes and see big results! I often imagine myself wearing one these aprons! As for my kitchen whoopsie…. Whole pot of homemade spaghetti sauce on the floor….. Hours cleaning up this one!

My messiest kitchen experience… not sure how he did it, but my husband was making hard boiled eggs, and walked out. All the water evaporated, and the eggs burst out of the pot, leaving egg all over the place.

Every single day is a messy moment in the kitchen but that is how you know you are putting a little love into cooking. And it helps pass the time while those lovely cupcakes are baking in the oven.

I don’t know anything about cooking or baking I tried to make cinnamon rolls for friends . . . I didn’t know when you put an entire bag of powdered suger in the mixer (on full speed) it would white coat everything in a 10 mile radius. I had white hair for a week!!!

I remember trying to bake my first Banana Bread. Everything all over the place. Trying to figure out how to use the mixer what speed. Well for me the wrong one the batter went everywhere. Quite a mess to clean up. Never forget this experience.
